It’s 2024 iPhone launch day, and we got our hands on all the new iPhone 16 Pro colors to compare. Here’s what they’re like outside of Apple’s pristine marketing images.

This year’s batch of iPhone 16 Pro phones technically received four new finishes, but the most notable is the Desert Titanium that has replaced the outgoing blue hue.

Now the four titanium colors in the range are the aforementioned Desert, White, Black, and Natural. Let’s take a closer look.

Accessory maker Anker has recalled three of its power-related products, including two MagSafe clones, due to a potential fire hazard.

The notice, posted to Anker’s website, reveals that the Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K), the Anker Power Bank, and Anker MagGo Power Bank, are being recalled.

Anker says that it has discovered that a number of the lithium-ion batteries used in the powerbanks “may pose a fire risk due to a manufacturing defect.” Affected models could overheat, which may lead to melting components, smoke, and even fire.

Human interface designer Johnnie Manzari and senior director of product design Rich Dinh sat down with Design Tangents to discuss what it took to make the iPhone 16’s new camera a reality. The interview took place in Apple’s own podcast studio in Cupertino following September’s “It’s Glowtime” event.

Much of the interview centers on discussing Apple’s design philosophy and how designers figure out what makes the cut and what doesn’t.

A teardown has proven that Apple has used a new metal battery casing in the iPhone 16 Pro, with the model also benefiting from chassis changes that will help thermally manage the device’s internals.

An inevitable part of the iPhone launch is the teardown, and the iPhone 16 generation is no different. Shortly after its release, the iPhone 16 Pro has been taken apart and inspected internally, revealing changes to Apple’s design.

The teardown by Rewa Technology posted to YouTube involves a fairly standard disassembly of the iPhone 16 Pro. After heating the rear and separating the glass backing, the engineer had access to the internals as normal.
