Apple still suppresses employees discussing pay equity, says Labor Board
The US National Labor Relations Board is again accusing Apple management of illegally deterring employee discussions of pay and bias issues, part of a general anti-union campaign by the iPhone maker.
Apple has faced numerous employee allegations across 2024.In addition to a raft of ongoing complaints, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) general counsel said that Apple forced engineer Cher Scarlett to quit the company. She claims she faced pressure to leave after she attempted to post an online survey about pay, experience levels, and other Apple employee information.
The board also accuses Apple of barring workers from creating a channel in the workplace messaging app Slack to discuss pay inequities and performance incentives. Apple has rebutted the new complaint, the third time the NLRB amplified employee concerns in just the month of October.

Berkshire Hathaway continues dumping AAPL to build up cash reserves
Financial firm Berkshire Hathway has spent a year reducing its shares of AAPL stock, which once took up half of chairman Warren Buffett’s entire portfolio.
Buffett meets with Apple CEO Tim Cook. Image credit: AppleFor the fiscal third quarter 2024, which ended on September 30, Buffett still held $69.9 billion in AAPL, or around 300 million shares. One year ago, his firm had four times as many shares in the iPhone maker.
Berkshire Hathaway has given no reason for the year-long selloff, though other financial analysts have speculated that Buffett may consider the stock overvalued. AAPL is up 20 percent for the year so far, which compares to the average performance of the S&P 500 overall for 2024.
