In a statement provided to AppleInsider and a series of posts on Twitter/X, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney has made it clear what he thinks about the European Union-mandated App Store changes, required by the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
So there’s no misinterpretation, we’re including Sweeney’s quote in full.
Previously, if a developer wanted to allow game streaming on an iPhone or iPad, they would need to submit each game for review. Now, with the advent of iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4, developers can submit a single app that has the capability to stream all games offered within their catalog.
There is a caveat, however. Each core streaming app will still need to adhere to all App Store Review Guidelines. The host app will be required to maintain an age rating of the highest age-rated content included in the app.
