Space startup plans to beam ‘hyperspectral insights’ to US government
Finnish startup Kuva Space has unveiled plans to provide the US government with hyperspectral data. A powerful technology with diverse applications, hyperspectral imagery analyses a wider light spectrum than traditional sensors. As a result, it can unravel new insights about scanned objects. Here on Earth, the techniques have discovered artworks hidden under Picasso paintings and enhanced colours in smartphone photos. Up in space, the possibilities are almost endless. With views across our planet, the sensors can read the spectral signatures of almost any material on Earth. At Kuva Space, the analysis begins by launching satellites equipped with hyperspectral cameras into…This story continues at The Next Web

EU agrees on plan to boost homegrown green tech, taking on US and China
Amid an increasingly intense global race, EU lawmakers have agreed on a new set of rules to boost domestic production of green technologies. On Tuesday, the European Parliament and Council struck a deal on the much-anticipated Net Zero Industrial Act (NZIA). The key regulation seeks to ensure that homegrown net-zerotech can cover at least 40% of the bloc’s demand by 2030. “The NZIA is an important step in creating the necessary ecosystem to boost the manufacturing of clean technologies,” said Jo Brouns, Flemish Minister for Economy, Innovation, Work, Social Economy, and Agriculture. How a respected security researcher stole millions from Apple
A security researcher was thanked by Apple in OS patch notes just days after being indicted in a scheme that allowed him to steal millions of dollars worth of Apple products, gift cards, and services.
Noah Roskin-Frazee, a security researcher affiliated with ZeroClicks Lab, has been praised by Apple for identifying software vulnerabilities. However, he has recently come under scrutiny for exploiting a vulnerability that enabled him to steal a whopping $2.5 million worth of iPhones, Macs, and gift cards.According to 404Media, Roskin-Frazee found a vulnerability in Toolbox, a backend system that Apple uses to place orders on hold. While on hold, orders can still be edited.
He, along alleged co-conspirator Keith Latteri, used a password reset tool to gain access to an employee account of a third-party company that helped Apple with customer support. Once they accessed the employee credentials, they accessed Apple’s systems and placed fraudulent orders for Apple products.
