Apple takes over more NYC office space from Macy’s
Apple has expanded its New York City offices and is now taking up ten floors of 11 Penn Plaza in a deal that sees it occupying space vacated by Macy’s.

At the time, it leased 220,000 square feet for office space, which saw it occupying floors 11 through 14.
There was also an option for it to have space on the floors 9 and 10, which it took up in November 2020 by subleasing it from Macy’s. Now according to Commercial Observer, Apple will occupy ten whole floors.

I found a battery pack with an AC outlet, strapped it to the Mac mini, and turned it into a portable, headless computer companion for Apple Vision Pro. Here’s how it went.
Portable Mac mini with an external battery packThere was never any doubt that the new Mac mini could be turned into a tiny battery-powered Mac, but there were a lot of questions about the execution of such a project. Not all AC outlets are created equal, so I went shopping for the lowest-priced, smallest-sized battery pack that could still provide enough wattage to keep a Mac mini powered on.
I found a no-name Amazon product sold in the Paopaoyu Store, one of those odd brands that don’t seem to have a real website or presence outside of Amazon. Its SEO-optimized listing calls it the “Portable Laptop Power Bank 100W AC Outlet, 72Wh/20000mAh with 65W PD USB C Portable Laptop Charger, External Battery Pack for MacBook, Notebooks, Laptops.”

Black Friday Proton VPN deals for 2024 include up to 70 percent off membership plans

That averages out to $3 monthly if you go with two years and $5 monthly for the single-year option. It’s just one of many subscription deals you can find for Black Friday, making now a good time to check which services you use regularly (or wanted to try) have been discounted.
ProtonVPN is Engadget’s favorite VPN service of 2024. Although most services passed our tests with high marks, Proton’s service stood out for its independently audited no-logs policy, a proven record of refusing law enforcement requests, open-source code and a peer-review program that discloses potential vulnerabilities. We also liked its user-friendly interface.
The company offers a limited free plan, but ProtonVPN Plus gives you access to 6,500 servers in more than 110 countries. It also includes the company’s high-speed (10Gbps) servers, BitTorrent support, a built-in ad blocker and the option to route your connection through multiple servers.
Other Proton services are also on sale. That includes Proton Mail, the company’s fully encrypted email service that put it on the map. You can get 12 months for 60 percent off ($23.88) or 24 months for 30 percent off ($83.76). ProtonMail recently added an AI-powered writing feature to its mail service. Even if you aren’t a fan of robots putting words into your mouth, the service still gives you up to 10 email addresses (including custom domain support), smart filters and labels, one-click unsubscribe and dedicated mobile and desktop apps.
